In designing the freight elevator shaft, architects and engineers must keep in mind the special structural requirements of the freight door installation. Most freight elevator hoistways are of masonry construction. COURION strongly recommends all freight elevator entrances have metal sills and steel jambs that extend to the floor beam above.
